According to a report published by the website Mexico Histórico, Cape Verde has stood out as a true example in the fight for social equality. With a history marked by colonial challenges and a track record of resilience, the country has adopted innovative policies and transformative initiatives that promote social justice, gender equity and the inclusion of historically marginalized groups.
The report points out that Cape Verde's colonial legacy, which began with Portuguese colonization and the archipelago's central role in the transatlantic slave trade, generated deep social inequalities. However, after gaining independence in 1975, the country embarked on a journey of social reconstruction, with a focus on justice and equality.
